
Mogadishu, 5 January 2026: The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Da’ud Aweys Jamaac, today officially inaugurated the modernization project of the Radio Muqdisho studios, the voice of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Ministry’s Director General, Abdirahman Hayir Ducale, and other senior officials.
The modernization project, which has been ongoing for the past year, has equipped Radio Muqdisho with state-of-the-art broadcasting equipment.
As part of the upgrades, the radio station now has two fully functional studios capable of simultaneous broadcasting if needed, significantly enhancing its operational capacity and reach.
The Director of Radio Muqdisho, Voice of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Abdi Fataax Dahir Jayte, delivered brief remarks during the ceremony.
He expressed gratitude to the Ministry, under the leadership of Minister Da’ud Aweys Jamaac, for its continuous support and guidance. He also highlighted that part of the new equipment was procured through collaboration with BBC Media Action, reflecting the importance of international partnerships in strengthening Somalia’s public media.
Speaking at the inauguration of Studio 7, Minister Da’ud Aweys Jamaac praised the radio staff for their dedication and hard work.
He emphasized that the implementation of this modernization project is part of the Somali government’s broader efforts to develop national media, ensuring that the Somali people are consistently informed and engaged
The Minister noted that a strong public broadcasting system is crucial for raising awareness, promoting national dialogue, and supporting development initiatives across the country.
