The workshop was attended by a large number of election observers who monitored the Benadir Regional District Council elections, held on 25 December 2025. the Chairperson of the Somali Civil Society Coalition (Somalia Non-State Actors), Mr. Osman Moallim Shatah, officially opened a post-election review and reflection workshop on the Local Council elections.
The workshop provided an opportunity to share key election observation activities, additional insights, lessons learned, and election-day experiences, while highlighting the critical role played by Somali Civil Society in conducting independent election observation across all sixteen (16) districts of the Benadir Region.
Observer teams engaged in constructive discussions on election-related incidents, challenges encountered, and progress achieved. They emphasized the importance of continuous and independent monitoring to safeguard the integrity, transparency, credibility, freedom, and fairness of the electoral process.
The observation mission successfully covered most districts of the Benadir Region, while follow-up monitoring and documentation by observer teams are still ongoing to enhance accountability and improve future elections.
Finally, the observers were awarded Certificates of Recognition in appreciation of their commitment, professionalism, integrity, and significant contribution to the monitoring of the Benadir Regional Local Council elections.
